The Bollywood release calendar for 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in recent times, packed with a mix of big-ticket entertainers, star-driven spectacles, and much-awaited sequels. With several A-list actors and filmmakers locking in prime dates, the year promises not just blockbuster content but also intense box office face-offs that are already generating significant buzz among fans and trade circles alike. Here’s taking a look at the films that will lock horns at the ticket window this year!
Riteish Deshmukh is currently gearing up for the release of the highly anticipated film, Raja Shivaji. The actor has acted as well as directed the film. It also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Genelia Deshmukh, Vidya Balan, and Sanjay Dutt in important
roles. Riteish will be seen as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The film will showcase the warrior king’s legacy, courage, and lasting relevance. It is set for release on May 1, 2026.
Riteish’s film will clash with the Junaid Khan starrer Ek Din, which marks South actor Sai Pallavi’s Bollywood debut. Junaid and Sai’s fresh pairing has upped the excitement among the audience.
Ananya Panday and Lakshya have teamed up for a film titled Chand Mera Dil. It is a ‘crazy’ love story that redefines the meaning of love, with emotional twists and campus romance. After multiple delays, the film will finally arrive in theatres on May 22.
However, it will be released alongside Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde’s Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. Earlier, it was slated to release on June 12, but the makers preponed it by three weeks. On May 22, two more films will be released: Anurag Kashyap’s critically acclaimed Bandar and Milap Zaveri’s Tera Yaar Hoon Main.
The historical period drama, Lahore 1947 will star Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta alongside Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Karan Deol in key roles. Music for the film is by AR Rahman, with lyrics by Javed Akhtar. Aamir Khan is producing the film under his banner, Aamir Khan Productions. It is set to release on August 13. On the other hand, Awarapan 2, starring Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani, is reportedly scheduled to release during the Independence Day weekend.
The sequel to the 2006 National Award-winning cult comedy Khosla Ka Ghosla brings back its beloved original cast, including Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Ranvir Shorey, Tara Sharma, and Parvin Dabas, while Ravi Kishan joins the ensemble as a new addition. Slated for a theatrical release on 28th August, the film is set for an interesting box office clash with Vvan: Force of the Forest, a folklore drama starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia.
Ranbir Kapoor is ready to set the box office on fire with his most ambitious film, Ramayana. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film also stars Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, Yash, Ravie Dubey, and Indira Krishnan, among others.
The grand mythological saga will be hitting theatres on Diwali 2026. However, several reports claim that the film may face tough competition on the global front from Godzilla Minus Zero, which is slated for release on November 6, 2026. With both films eyeing premium formats, they are likely to compete for IMAX screens in international markets.
