The central government is on high alert ahead of the NEET UG re-exam, scheduled nationwide for June 21. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan chaired a high-level review meeting to ensure the exam is conducted in a fair, transparent, and secure manner. Senior officials from the Ministry of Education, the National Testing Agency (NTA), various state governments, and higher educational institutions participated. All exam-related preparations were thoroughly reviewed. The Education Minister made it clear that no negligence will be tolerated and that the entire process must meet the highest standards of transparency, fairness, and security.
The review meeting focused on the readiness of examination centres, candidate convenience, the security
of question papers, and monitoring systems. The government aims to ensure that millions of students do not face any difficulties on the day of the exam. The Ministry of Education and the NTA have been instructed to conduct the examination process with complete integrity and efficiency to reinforce students’ confidence.
Free Bus Services For Re-NEET
In view of the re-exam, several state governments have announced discounted or free bus travel to ease students’ commute. Delhi has announced free travel on all DTC buses for NEET candidates on June 21; students can travel without paying a fare by showing their admit card.
The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a 50 percent discount on UPSRTC bus fares for NEET re-exam candidates. This decision by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to benefit millions of students.
The Punjab government has offered completely free travel for students on Punjab Roadways buses, and the fare for one accompanying parent per student has also been waived. This facility will be available on June 20, 21, and 22.
The Odisha government has arranged free travel for NEET re-exam candidates on OSRTC buses. Students can show their admit cards and reach their examination centres without paying any fare.
The Andhra Pradesh government and APSRTC have also announced free bus travel for students appearing for the NEET re-exam on June 21, on the basis of their hall ticket.
NEET is one of the country’s largest medical entrance examinations. The government is continuously monitoring the process to eliminate any potential irregularities. Accordingly, exam security, travel facilities for candidates, arrangements at exam centres, and administrative coordination are being regularly reviewed.
