A digital creator from the UK recently travelled in the Delhi Metro probably for the first time and left surprised with its cleanliness and affordability. He even stated that it looked better than the London Underground transit system.
Rory Porter discussed his journey via Delhi Metro in a video shared on Instagram with his nearly 15,000 followers.
Foreign National Praises Delhi Metro
In the beginning, Porter shared that passengers are required to go through security check at first and put their bags through the X-ray machine, similar to how it needs to be done at the airport. Later on, they are allowed at the platform.
He said that he paid Rs 43 (0.35 pounds or $0.47) for the half-hour-long journey, calling it “very, very cheap”.
“Probably, one
of the cheapest train or metros I have been on in the world,” Porter stated.
While on the platform, Porter showed the metro on the other side and talked about the modern-looking coaches.
Once he entered the metro, Porter was left surprised. “They are very clean indeed… smells very nice. Lots of seats. Extremely modern…I mean, look at this. It is not very overcrowded either. There’s plenty of seats. There’s no one really standing up,” he said.
The foreign national said it could be “one of the best ones I have been on in the world.”
“Very efficient, lots of stations. Better than London. That’s one of the best metros I have been on. Very nice, all air-conditioned, very clean, very modern,” he concluded.
In the caption, he wrote, “£0.35 Journey on Delhi’s Metro”.

How Did The Internet React?
Since being shared on Instagram, Porter’s video has grabbed more than 53,000 views, while many expressed their views in the comments section.
“Our metro system is renowned globally! Showcasing vibrant state cultures, modern amenities, and so much more. Encourage your friends and family to visit INDIA. We love to host,” one person wrote.
Another commented that it is “affordable” rather than being “cheap”.
One user quipped, “This won’t go viral…….videos from Bangladesh railways in which people stand on top go viral on the name of India”
A fourth person advised Porter to try Mumbai underground metro and then talk about the “luxurious” journey.
The foreign national’s viral post highlights Delhi Metro’s efficiency and cleanliness, despite witnessing huge crowds especially during peak hours.
