Marcella Hill, a CEO and influencer, has opened up about an unusual choice she and her husband made in their marriage. The couple still love each other and remain married, but they now live in separate homes less than a mile apart.
Hill said their different daily habits had made living together difficult for a long time. Moving into her own apartment, she said, has helped both of them make changes in their lives while also making their time together more enjoyable.
Hill Says Living Apart Changed Their Marriage
Explaining the decision, Hill said, “My husband lives in our house less than a mile away and I live in an apartment complex just down the street because I just didn’t want to freaking live there anymore. The way he lives, the way I live,
very very different. It was not working for a very long time but we love each other.”
Hill made it clear that the arrangement is not linked to a possible divorce. She said there is no “drama” between them and that she simply did not want to continue living the way she had been.
She also believes the change has helped her husband make some lifestyle changes. “He is redecorating. The man is doing things I have not seen him do ever. He’s feeding himself… He’s hanging out with new friends. He’s regularly taking care of the lawn.”
Hill said she has also made changes since moving out. “Meanwhile, I’m getting my a** to the gym regularly, eating to nourish my body, taking long walks. I’m building my company on a regular basis. We are spending more family time together than we ever did before.”
The couple’s relationship has also taken on a new feel. Hill said they are now in “dating mode,” which she called “super fun.” Sharing the video on Instagram, she wrote, “How’s having my own place?! Amazing!!!” She also said, “Our marriage has never been better.”
People Have Mixed Views On Their Setup
The unusual arrangement drew different reactions from viewers. Some supported the idea, while others questioned why the couple could not make the same changes while living together. Some people also said they had similar setups.
One person wrote, “What a dream. This should be normalised. Maybe investing in building a small apartment in the backyard. I would love that.”
Another asked, “Honest question…all the things that you two are doing now…why were you two not able to do them while living together? Hang out with friends, take care of the lawn, going to the gym…I’m so utterly confused.”
Someone else said, “Separation is tricky business without a plan. I’m invested to see how this works out.”
Another shared their own experience: “I lived in my house, and my husband lived in his house. Both paid for. We work opposite shifts. We have the same days off, so we can see each other. It works.”
