Shefali Shah took to Instagram to share a hilarious video as she tried to make and pronounce a charcuterie board. The Delhi Crime actor struggled so hard to pronounce the word that she ended up giving up all efforts to get the pronunciation right and called it a ‘chakuchuri board’ and ‘chacuchie board’.
In the caption of her video, she wrote, “Charcuterie/chakuchuri???? What do you guys call it?”. The Insta Reel also featured her two adorable huskies, who kept following her around as she created the board from scratch. She did end up paying her doggos the ‘cheese tax’.

A charcuterie board comes from the French charcutier (pork butcher) and traditionally showcases cured meats like salami, prosciutto,
and pâté alongside cheeses, fruits, nuts, and spreads. Modern boards expand into edible art: visually stunning platters blending savoury, sweet, crunchy, and creamy elements for parties, holidays, or casual gatherings. No cooking required—just strategic assembly for balanced flavours and eye-catching abundance.
To create her charcuterie board, the actor, who was dressed in a blue kaftan, used a mix of cheese, cured meats, crackers, pickled vegetables and jams. Shefali Shah made her charcuterie board by laying out a whole load of washed and cut-up strawberries and piles of green and purple grapes. She then added a variety of cubed cheeses, while she added pickled mini cucumbers and two varieties of olives to bowls. For the finishing touches, the 52-year-old actor added some jam, chocolate spread and some cream to the board as well.
If you want to take inspiration from Shefali Shah and create your own charcuterie board at home, here are a few tips:
Essential Components & Ingredients
- Meats: Prosciutto (thin, silky), salami (hard/sliced), chorizo (spicy), soppressata (folded rosettes).
- Cheeses (3-5 varieties): Hard (cheddar, gouda), soft (brie, goat), blue (gorgonzola), plus parmesan chunks.
- Fruits: Grapes, figs, berries, apple/pear slices.
- Nuts: Almonds, pistachios, candied pecans.
- Crackers/Bread: Sliced baguette, water crackers, breadsticks.
- Spreads: Honey, fig jam, mustard, hummus, olives, cornichons.
- Garnish: Fresh herbs (rosemary), edible flowers.
5 Tips for Instagram-Worthy Boards
- Start with the board: Use large wooden slabs, slate, or marble (chilled). Fill 70-80% for “overflowing” luxury.
- Anchor with Stars: Place cheeses first as focal points; fan meats for height and texture.
- Play with Colour & Shape: Cluster red grapes near pale brie; add vibrant fruits/nuts for pops against neutrals.
- Vary Textures: Mix creamy dips, crunchy crackers, and chewy dried fruits – drizzle honey for glossy shine.
- Garnish & Shoot: Tuck rosemary sprigs last; photograph overhead with natural light, minimal negative space.
- Prep cheeses ahead (refrigerate); assemble 30 mins before serving. Your board becomes shareable perfection – rustic elegance that tastes as good as it looks!
