Harman takes India to 170/4
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur played a sensational knock of 56 runs off just 27 balls on Sunday to help India post a formidable total of 170/4 against Australia.
The 37-year-old right-handed batter from Punjab smashed six fours and three sixes during her explosive innings and needed only 25 balls to bring up her half-century. It was the fastest fifty by an Indian batter in the history of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
Harmanpreet also stitched together a crucial 64-run partnership off 45 balls for the third wicket with Jemimah Rodrigues, who scored 34 off 28 balls. Earlier, openers Smriti Mandhana (38) and Shafali Verma (34) gave India a solid start by adding 66 runs in 9.1 overs for the first wicket.
