India square off against Afghanistan in the second semi-final of the ICC U19 World Cup 2026 on Wednesday (February 4). The Harare Sports Club will play host to the all-important fixture to determine the last
finalist of the biannual tournament.
Led by Mumbai and Chennai Super Kings star Ayush Mhatre, the India U19 have enjoyed an undefeated run into the semis. Having beaten the USA, Bangladesh and New Zealand during the group stage, the Indians flexed their form and depth in the Super Six stage, also by hammering Zimbabwe and Pakistan.
Mhatre & co finished on top of Super Six Group 2, ahead of the other qualifier England. It helped them set up the knock-out against the Afghans, who ended second in the Super Six Group 1 with a defeat to Sri Lanka but also a massive victory over Ireland. The Afghans made it through at the expense of the Lankan Lions with a stronger NRR, having earlier beaten West Indies, South Africa and Tanzania comprehensively in the group stage.
