Encourage EVs adoption as movement to conserve fuel, Andhra CM tells officials

Amaravati, May 18 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday directed officials to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles as a movement to conserve fuel, and prepare plans to provide 16,000 electric cycles (bicycles) to SwarnaGrama and SwarnaWard workers.

The chief minister held a video conference at the Secretariat with the representatives of Electric Vehicle (EV) companies.

“As part of conserving fuel in Andhra Pradesh, devise plans for the adoption of EVs as a movement,” Naidu said in an official release.

Further, he asked officials to ensure the easy facilitation of loans to purchase EVs, including setting up a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) if required.

Likewise, he directed officials to start an action plan to facilitate

the purchase of EVs under EMI mode and called for the improving EV charging infrastructure in the state. PTI STH KH
