Putin’s India Visit LIVE Updates: Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday kick-started a nearly 27-hour visit to India to further shore up a nearly eight-decade bilateral partnership. In reflection of the importance India attached to the visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Putin at New Delhi’s Palam airport with a hug and accorded him a warm welcome to India.
The two leaders left the airport in the same car for 7 LKM for a private dinner hosted by PM Modi in Putin’s honour. The conversation held at the dinner table likely set the tone for the 23rd India-Russia summit talks on Friday, which is expected to produce a number of key outcomes.
Putin’s Schedule On Friday
As per the itinerary, the visiting leader will have a packed itinerary on Friday. The day is expected
to begin by visiting Rashtrapati Bhawan for a ceremonial reception at 11 AM, followed by a visit to Rajghat. From Rajghat, Putin will move to Hyderabad House.
The core agenda at Hyderabad House is economic recalibration, as both leaders seek to deepen their “Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership” while insulating bilateral trade from external sanctions and geopolitical volatility.
The two leaders are set to announce a long-term programme for the development of strategic areas of Russian-Indian economic cooperation until 2030, setting an ambitious bilateral trade target of $100 billion for the end of the decade.
