Following a directive from a three-judge bench of the Islamabad High Court, a twelve-member delegation comprising family members, legal counsel, and political leaders gathered outside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail to meet incarcerated former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan. Among those present were his sisters—Aleema Khanum, Noreen Khanum, and Dr Uzma Khanum—alongside party leaders and workers. Emphasising that the visit was being conducted strictly in accordance with judicial orders designating Tuesday as the sanctioned meeting day, Aleema noted that jurisdiction over jail visitation protocols rests directly with the court.
Refuting claims that family interactions serve as a conduit for political directives, Aleema clarified that conversations
during jail visits remain confined strictly to family matters. She revealed that the former prime minister, who remains in solitary confinement, has asked only for reading materials and the opportunity to speak with his children. Aleema added that formal requests have been submitted to the judiciary to ensure the requested books are delivered to his cell, reiterating that family discourse should not be misconstrued as political messaging.
Concurrently, the former premier’s family voiced severe anxiety regarding his safety and physical well-being inside the detention facility. Dr Uzma Khanum levelled explosive allegations, asserting that Imran Khan faces an immediate threat to his life while in custody. Recalling a previous interaction, Dr Uzma stated that her brother explicitly warned her that Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir would be directly responsible if any fatal harm befell him in prison.
Citing alarming intelligence regarding his declining state, Dr Uzma Khanum demanded an immediate end to his present incarceration conditions and urged his prompt transfer to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad. She insisted that any medical examinations and subsequent treatment must be conducted under the direct oversight of his personal medical team to ensure complete transparency and safeguard his life.
