Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed deep sorrow over the fire mishap in Arpora, Goa, calling it a “deeply saddening” tragedy. He also extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said that he spoke to Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant regarding the situation and noted that the state government is providing all possible assistance to the affected.
“The fire mishap in Arpora, Goa is deeply saddening. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover at the earliest. Spoke to Goa CM Dr. Pramod Sawant Ji about the situation. The State Government is providing all possible assistance to those affecte,” he wrote on X.
The Prime Minister also
announced that an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) will be given to the next of kin of each deceased in the mishap in Arpora, Goa. The injured will be given Rs. 50,000.

President Droupadi Murmu also expressed grief over the tragic fire incident in North Goa district.
The President prayed for strength for the families in this difficult time and for the speedy recovery of those injured.
“Deeply pained by the tragic fire incident in North Goa district resulting in the loss of precious lives. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. May they find strength during this difficult time. I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured,” she wrote on X.
This comes after a major tragedy struck Arpora, North Goa, late Saturday night when a cylinder blast caused a massive fire in a nightclub. The explosion, resulted in the death of at least 25 people, all reported to be staff members of the nightclub.
“Most of the dead were the club’s kitchen workers, and included three women,” Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said. There were “three to four tourists” among those killed, he added.
Fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot, and firefighters worked for nearly two hours to bring the blaze under control.
