Following the tragic demise of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash in Baramati, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) – the BJP’s parental organisation – expressed grief over
the incident and paid tribute to the leader.
In a statement posted on ‘X’, the RSS said, “The sudden demise of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Shri Ajit Pawar ji in an airplane accident today is extremely unfortunate and heartbreaking.”

Ajit Pawar Dies In Plane Crash
Ajit Pawar, 66, died in a tragic plane crash in Maharashtra’s Baramati on Wednesday morning, January 28. Pawar was heading to Baramati to address a public gathering ahead of the Zilla Parishad elections.
Pawar, also known as ‘Dada’, was renowned as the longest-serving Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra. With his demise, condolences have poured in from across party lines.
President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, LoP Rahul Gandhi, Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge, among others, expressed grief over the incident and paid tributes.
Meanwhile, a team from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has landed in Baramati and begun an investigation into the crash.
During the investigation, the probe team will retrieve the flight recorder, Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) and Digital Engine Electronic System (DEES), news agency ANI reported.
Maharashtra Declares State Mourning
Maharashtra has declared three days of state mourning following the demise of deputy CM Ajit Pawar. The tricolour across the state will be flown at half mast, as a mark of respect, and all government programmes stand cancelled between January 28 and 30.
