The BCCI announced the 15-member squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 on Saturday as up-and-coming seamer Nandani Sharma received her maiden call-up to the national squad for the tournament slated to be held in England and Wales.
The 24-year-old seamer from Chandigarh was a revelation at the WPL 2026 as she picked up a whopping 17 wickets in her 10 outings in the latest iteration of the T20 franchise league.
Nandani also became the first Indian bowler to register a five-wicket haul and a hattrick during the tournament for the Delhi Capitals.
Nandani was picked up by the Capital City side for Rs 20 Lakh at the auction ahead of the season and went on to help the Delhi-based unit in their run to the finals during the most recent season of the franchise
league.
Team India are pooled alongside Pakistan, The Netherlands, South Africa, Bangladesh and Australia at the T20 showpiece.
The woman in blue will start their campaign with their blockbuster curtain-raiser at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham against Pakistan, before squaring up against the Dutchwomen at the Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds.
The ICC ODI World Cup champions will take on South Africa and Bangladesh at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester before rounding out their group assignments with their game versus Australia at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
