A short video from a recent trailer launch has sparked quite a conversation online, with many viewers convinced something uncomfortable had unfolded on stage. In the clip, veteran actor Sudhir Pandey is seen stepping away during the event for Ginny Weds Sunny 2, leading to speculation about a possible disagreement or lack of respect from the film’s team.
But speaking about it now, Sudhir Pandey says the reality is far simpler, and far less dramatic than social media assumed.
Clarifying the situation, he addressed the rumours directly and said, “There was nothing like being disrespected. I was launching the trailer with the team, I wanted to be there. I went to the stage with everyone, and was sitting in the front row before that. Whoever has shot
this video may not have noticed that. When the announcement was made, I went up with everyone,” he tells Hindustan Times.

According to him, the moment that went viral has been misunderstood. He explains that his exit from the stage had nothing to do with the event itself, but was driven by professional commitments running in parallel that day.
“The problem was I was in great urgency, because my shoot for another project is going on. So, I came to attend this trailer launch in the middle of the shoot. In fact, I had told the production house for Ginny… that I will come with a little urgency. The reason you see me walking off is going to the other shoot, I was getting messages,” he said.
Pandey also emphasised that he made a conscious effort to be part of the launch despite his packed schedule, pointing out his commitment to the film and its team. “I have a fantastic role in GWS 2 and it’s a good film. That’s why I got permission from the other film’s team. I am thankful to them for allowing it.”
The viral moment, however, took on a life of its own online, with many viewers interpreting it as a sign of discord. Sudhir Pandey says he only realised the extent of the discussion later through social media reactions.
“I didn’t even know what happened, I saw later on social media. The kind of reactions I have received from concerned people…. I suddenly feel that yes, people have noticed my work and I am quite relevant in their memory.”
The renewed attention has also brought focus back to his long-standing career, spanning decades across television and films such as Buniyaad, Tees Maar Khan, and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. Reflecting on his journey, he keeps it understated.
“There has been no secret. I have been very sincere to my work. I came to this industry in 1976. It has been 50 years.”
Even after all these years, he says his approach hasn’t changed much.
“Even today in 2026, I keep working with the same passion. I will not say that I did a lot of work, but whatever I did, I did it very honestly. It was registered.”
