In view of the heavy rain showers in Delhi, IndiGo on Saturday issued an advisory and urged passengers to check their respective flight status before travelling. The airline stated that the bad weather is affecting flight operations, which may lead to delays.
The advisory came as heavy rainfall lashed parts of Delhi-NCR, with severe waterlogging reported near Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, Anand Vihar, Connaught Place, and other areas.
In a post on X, IndiGo announced: “Bad weather is currently affecting Delhi, leading to possible delays in flight operations. Our teams are closely monitoring the situation, if you’re travelling today, we recommend checking your flight status on our website via https://goindigo.in/check-flight-status.html
or app before leaving for the airport.”

“Please also allow for additional travel time, as road conditions may be slower than usual. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding. Your comfort and safety remain our top priority.”
On Friday, September 4, Delhi surpassed its annual rainfall quota as another intense spell of showers pounded the capital and the adjoining NCR, causing waterlogging in several regions.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi-NCR is likely to receive more showers over two days, starting Saturday, September 5. The weather body has issued a ‘yellow alert’ for light to moderate rainfall for Saturday, while light rains are likely on Sunday.
Rain is unlikely from Monday to Thursday, the IMD has said.
Delhi Reels Under Waterlogging
A video shared by ANI Hindi showed severe waterlogging in Sangam Vihar, where children were seen playing in flooded lanes while commuters struggled through waterlogged streets.

Another video, shared by PTI, showed waterlogging in Shakarpur and Laxmi Nagar areas, as traffic gradually moved through the flooded lanes.

The maximum temperature in Delhi on Friday was recorded at 35.1 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal, compared to 34.9 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
