A 19-year-old student from Kerala died in Dubai after falling from the terrace of a high-rise building in Deira while taking photographs, local media reported. The victim, Mohammed Mishal from Kozhikode district, had been in the city for around two weeks visiting his cousins.
The incident took place on November 7 when Mishal reportedly went up to the terrace of a multi-storey building to capture photos of aircraft flying overhead.
Haneefa K. K., a family friend, told Gulf News that the teenager had been staying with relatives while his parents remained in Kerala. Mishal, described as passionate about photography, was pursuing a diploma in civil engineering at a college in Kozhikode.
According to Khaleej Times, Mishal was rushed to Rashid Hospital
immediately after the fall but could not be saved. A social worker quoted in the report said the teen had suffered multiple internal injuries and remained alive until he reached the hospital, where he passed away shortly after.
Mishal was the only son of his parents and is survived by his mother, father and two sisters. Friends and relatives in Dubai are assisting with the necessary legal procedures.
“It’s a tragic loss. We are completing the legal formalities and hope to repatriate his body soon,” Haneefa said.
