Retirement usually comes with plans of slowing down, fewer responsibilities and quiet mornings. For many, it marks the end of working life. But on a busy Borivali street, one elderly vendor is rewriting that idea. Instead of resting at home, he stands behind a small cart, selling local snacks. A now-viral video shows the vendor in conversation with a passerby, speaking calmly about work, money and sharing. There is no rush in his voice. No bitterness about age or circumstance.
The vendor stands behind his cart, surrounded by packets of chivda and chakli. He answers questions calmly, without rushing or performing for the camera. The exchange feels unfiltered and real. And that is exactly why the clip is travelling far.
‘No One Gets Less, No One Gets More’
When asked whose accounts he maintains, the vendor replies, “Everyone’s.” He explains that four people work together, including three women who help prepare the items. His role, he says, is to sell. Whatever profit comes in from customers gets divided equally. “No one gets less, no one gets more,” he says, almost matter-of-factly.
He keeps a small notepad to track earnings to ensure fairness. When asked how long he has been doing this, his answer is simple. “Since Corona.” Before that, he worked a regular service job. Then, he retired. The shift, he says, feels okay.
The Moment That Sealed It
The video’s most shared moment comes toward the end. The man filming tells the vendor that followers asked him to buy something for everyone. He offers to pay Rs 100. The vendor immediately refuses. He insists there is no need. The exchange goes back and forth.
“Leave it,” the vendor says. Eventually, he accepts the money after reassurance. The vendor thanks him. The man thanks the vendor back. It ends with a simple request to viewers. If you are around Borivali’s Sai Baba Nagar, come buy from Dada.
“He is 82 years old and still working,” reads the caption of the video.

Internet Reacts With Respect And Gratitude
Social media users were quick to respond. “This is the India we don’t see enough of,” one user wrote. Another commented, “He has more dignity than people running big companies.” Several praised the equal profit-sharing idea, calling it rare and refreshing. “No drama, no gyaan, just values,” read one comment.
Others spoke about feeling positive after watching the clip. Some said it reminded them of their parents or grandparents. A user wrote, “At this age, he is still working honestly and sharing equally. That’s real success.” The video may be short, but the lesson is lingering.
