Thrissur (Kerala), Jul 5 (PTI) Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi on Sunday reviewed the progress of the redevelopment of Thrissur Railway Station and stressed the need for effective coordination among various stakeholders to ensure the project’s timely completion, officials said.
A government press release said the review meeting was held at the collectorate conference hall under the chairmanship of the minister and was attended by officials of the Railways, the district administration, the Thrissur Corporation and other departments, as well as public representatives.
According to officials, the meeting examined various phases of the station redevelopment project, including the phased execution of works, the relocation of offices and station facilities,
passenger amenities, traffic arrangements and other activities requiring coordination among different agencies.
The participants discussed measures to ensure smooth implementation of the project while minimising inconvenience to passengers and the public.
The meeting emphasised the need for the timely completion of various activities and close coordination among all stakeholders, the statement said.
Discussions were held on measures to strengthen the project and further enhance multimodal connectivity in Thrissur.
Officials of the Railway Construction Organisation, Ernakulam, informed the meeting that the redevelopment works were being carried out in phases to provide improved passenger amenities, better accessibility and modern station infrastructure, the statement said.
They said the redevelopment of Thrissur Railway Station was targeted for completion by 2028.
Following the meeting, Gopi inspected the ongoing redevelopment works at the railway station, as well as the proposed locations for shifting facilities, and reviewed the progress of the project, officials said.
