New Delhi, Jul 24 (PTI) Delhi remained under generally cloudy skies with spells of light rain and drizzle on Friday, keeping the mercury in check as the maximum temperature settled at 34.6 degrees Celsius, slightly below normal.
The maximum temperature in Delhi-NCR ranged between 32.9 and 34.6 degrees Celsius. Station-wise data showed Palam recording 32.9 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal, while Lodhi Road, Ridge and Ayanagar recorded 33.3 degrees Celsius each, 0.7, 0.9 and 1.7 degrees below normal, respectively.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast generally cloudy skies with light rain or drizzle on Saturday. Strong surface winds along with very light to light rainfall are likely during the forenoon and afternoon, while
very light to light rain is expected during the evening and night.
Delhi received 0.5 mm rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Friday. Palam, Lodhi Road, Ridge and Ayanagar recorded 0.6 mm, 0.8 mm, 3.6 mm and nil rainfall, respectively. Between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm, Safdarjung recorded 0.6 mm rainfall, Palam 3.3 mm, Lodhi Road 0.5 mm, Ridge trace rainfall and Ayanagar 0.3 mm.
The minimum temperature across the city ranged between 23.1 and 27.3 degrees Celsius. Safdarjung recorded 27.3 degrees Celsius, normal for the season, while Palam, Lodhi Road, Ridge and Ayanagar recorded 25, 26.8, 23.1 and 26.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The minimum temperature was 1.9 degrees below normal at Palam, 0.8 degrees above normal at Lodhi Road, 3.2 degrees below normal at Ridge and 0.4 degrees above normal at Ayanagar.
Continuing its recent streak, Delhi’s air quality remained in the “satisfactory” category, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) standing at 70 in the evening, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
According to the CPCB’s AQI scale, a reading between 0 and 50 is considered “good”, 51-100 “satisfactory”, 101-200 “moderate”, 201-300 “poor”, 301-400 “very poor” and 401-500 “severe”. PTI MSJ NB
