Karan Johar Thinks Kartik Aaryan Is 'Most Bankable Star', Signs New Film With Actor

Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan are already working on two big projects – Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri and Naagzilla. And now, it has been reported that the filmmaker is all set to sign a new movie

with Bollywood’s young talent. If a report by Bollywood Hungama is to be believed, Kartik and Karan are set to clock a hat-trick, with a new movie, which will go on floors in August 2026.

“Kartik has already given Karan Johar the green light for another film, the details of which are being closely guarded. Within Dharma, he’s now being positioned as the banner’s new poster boy, rapidly scaling up by fronting multiple big-ticket projects. Karan is convinced that Kartik is among the most bankable heroes in the country right now and is staking huge box-office hopes on Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri and Naagzilla as major money-spinners at the ticket windows,” a source cited by Bollywood Hungama claimed.

The insider also added that the third film of Kartik and Karan will be genre-defining and has been developed from scratch by the duo together. While the project is expected to begin in August 2026, details about its plot are not known as of now.

Interestingly, this comes days after the same entertainment portal also reported that KJo intends to extend Kartik Aaryan’s Naagzilla avatar into a full-fledged franchise. Reportedly, while Kartik Aaryan will be constant in the second installment of the franchise, the rest of the crew will change.

“As soon as the first Naagzilla film is launched, the pre-production for the next film in the series will start. Kartik will be the only constant in the series. The rest of the cast and crew will change in every instalment,” a source cited by the entertainment portal claimed.

What Do We Know About Naazgilla?

Kartik Aaryan will be playing the role of Preyamvadeshwar Pyare Chand, an Ichadaari Naag in Naagzilla. The actor’s first look from the film was released in April this year. Back then, Karan Johar shared the motion poster and wrote, “Insanon wali picharein toh bahut dekh li, ab dekho naagon wali pichchar! #NaagZilla – Naag lok ka pehla kaand… Funnn phailaane aa raha hai – Preyamvadeshwar Pyare Chand… Naag Panchami par 🐍 aapke nazdeeki Sssssinemas mein – 14 August 2026 ko!”

Produced by Karan Johar, Mahaveer Jain, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, and Sujit Jain – Naagzilla promises to be a one-of-a-kind entertainer that blends fantasy, folklore, and full-on fun. Not much details about the film’s plot have been revealed as of now.

Naagzilla will be released in theatres on August 14, 2026.
