Indiranagar in Bengaluru is known for its busy streets, cafes and lively atmosphere, but one auto ride recently came with an unusual fare. A Bengaluru-based startup founder shared his experience after booking an auto and being told to pay just ₹1. The low fare was part of a special campaign involving two startups, turning an ordinary ride into an unexpected bargain.
The founder shared the experience on X, along with pictures showing how the campaign was promoted inside the auto. The unusual offer also led to questions about the companies behind it and how the deal worked.
The Auto Ride Cost Just ₹1
He shared a post on X that began, “Indiranagar is a crazy place.” Explaining what happened, he wrote, “Booked an auto and the guy asked for just ₹1
as fare due to a rakhi collab campaign between two startups. Truly the best place to live in. Wild.”
The founder also posted two images from the auto. One shows a passenger holding a bright red promotional card hanging from the auto’s roof. The card promotes POP and highlights the ₹1 fare, while asking passengers to scan or use the service.
The second image gives a closer look at the card. It reads, “WHAT. THIS RIDE IS ACTUALLY @₹1/-” and promotes POP as the payment option.
A separate message inside the auto also tells passengers to use the service for their fare. The campaign appears to have been a collaboration between POP and Namma Yatri, with the promotion using the auto itself to advertise the offer.
Founder Names Namma Yatri As The Partner
The post quickly led to questions about which two startups were involved. One user asked, “What two start-ups? Pop and?” The founder replied, “Namma yatri.”
Others discussed whether such a low fare could become a regular offer or was limited to the campaign. A user wrote, “Nahh pop upi is actually so cool, one of my friend use it he get’s a lot of free shit for what he spend.”
Another said, “The same rickshaw guy must be demanding 4x-5x the fare on other days.”
