Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery, on Friday, lost his cool and almost got embroiled in a physical altercation with his midfielder Youri Tielemans, during their 1-0 victory over Fenerbahce in the Europa
League, at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Istanbul.
The incident occurred deep into stoppage time as Aston Villa sought to protect a slender lead in Istanbul. With the hosts pressing for a late equaliser, Emery made a last-gasp change, replacing Tielemans with teenager George Hemmings in an effort to see out the result.
As Tielemans headed towards the touchline, television cameras picked up an animated exchange between the midfielder and his manager.
Emery appeared frustrated, berating Tielemans before shoving him as the latter crossed the sideline. The incident left supporters and experts stunned, with footage of the confrontation spreading across social media within minutes of the final whistle.

Villa sit second in the standings on 18 points, trailing Lyon only on goal difference. Lyon sealed their place in the last 16 with a 1-0 victory away to the Swiss team Young Boys, courtesy of a goal from former Arsenal footballer Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
The victory was Villa’s sixth from seven European outings this season and brought an end to Fenerbahce’s undefeated home record. Sancho opened his account in Villa colours to give the visitors the early edge amidst a raucous atmosphere at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.
The Premier League team were hit by several injury concerns this week and their resolve was tested after the break. In the absence of Emi Martínez, goalkeeper Marco Bizot rose to the occasion, producing eight saves in the second half to preserve Villa’s lead.
Aston Villa will next be in action against Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday, January 25.
