New Delhi, Aug 11 (PTI) A 10-year-old boy who was found unattended at Sahibabad Namo Bharat station was reunited with his parents at Anand Vihar station following timely coordination between station staff, the NCRTC’s Operations Control Centre and Delhi Police, the corporation said.
The boy was travelling with his family from Muradnagar to Anand Vihar when he was noticed alone on the platform towards Delhi at Sahibabad station, according to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).
Station staff immediately informed the Operations Control Centre (OCC), which alerted the Sahibabad station team that the boy’s parents were searching for him at Anand Vihar station, Station Controllers at Sahibabad and Anand Vihar coordinated and kept
track of the child while he remained under the care of station staff, it read.
The boy was subsequently taken to Anand Vihar Namo Bharat station, where he was handed over to his parents after verification by Delhi Police, the NCRTC said.
The incident comes days after station staff at Sarai Kale Khan Namo Bharat station helped ensure the safe reunion of another young child with his parents.
In that case, staff noticed a child appearing distressed while travelling with a woman who claimed to be his mother. When the child said he did not know the woman, the Station Controller alerted CISF personnel and Delhi Police. The child’s parents were contacted and the matter was handed over to the police for further investigation.
The NCRTC said it has put in place safety and security measures across the Namo Bharat corridor, including CCTV surveillance at stations and inside trains.
Live CCTV feeds are monitored at station control rooms and the Security Control Centre at Duhai Depot. The OCC, station teams and security personnel coordinate to share information and respond to situations requiring immediate intervention, it stated.
Station staff and train attendants are also trained to remain vigilant and assist commuters during unforeseen situations, it said.
The NCRTC added the incidents highlight the importance of coordination and vigilance among its station teams in ensuring commuter safety. PTI SHB SHB MDO MDO
