Sometimes, all it takes is a missing name in a promo to set the rumour mill spinning. But actor Tovino Thomas is not losing sleep over it, in fact, he’s laughing it off.
The Pallichattambi actor has addressed ongoing speculation about an alleged fallout with Dulquer Salmaan, making it clear that there is no truth to the claims. The rumours had surfaced following promotional material for Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, where Tovino’s name was reportedly not highlighted, leading to assumptions about a possible rift.
Responding during a promotional interaction for his upcoming film, Tovino reacted with humour when questioned about the situation. He dismissed the speculation and joked that he would ask the makers why his name was not prominently mentioned,
underlining that there was no conflict between him and Dulquer.
He went on to speak about his long-standing association with the actor, tracing it back to the early days of his career. Tovino shared that he had worked as an assistant director on Dulquer Salmaan’s film Theevram and later appeared alongside him in ABCD, where he played a negative role. He described Dulquer as supportive and said their relationship has remained consistent over the years.
Addressing how such rumours emerge, Tovino noted that speculation can often be created externally without any basis. He added that such claims would appear unusual even to those within their circle. The actor remarked that he could show personal chats to demonstrate the nature of his friendships, pointing out how unfounded such gossip can be. He also mentioned that he and his colleagues usually treat such rumours lightly and often laugh them off.
While setting the record straight, Tovino also spoke about his connection to the Lokah franchise. He has previously collaborated with director Dominic Arun on Tharangam and shares a rapport with actors Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen.
Following the response to Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, attention has now shifted to its sequel. Kalyani Priyadarshan is set to return as Chandra, with the script currently in development. The next instalment is expected to expand the supernatural narrative further. Tovino Thomas is likely to portray Michael, a chathan (goblin), while Dulquer Salmaan may reprise his role as Charlie, the odiyan.
