(Maharashtra), Sep 2 (PTI) Former Congress MLA Dhiraj Deshmukh on Wednesday urged the Maharashtra government to consider conducting a cloud-seeding experiment in Marathwada in view of the deficient rainfall.
In a video message, he said crops in rain-dependent areas were showing signs of stress and farmers were concerned about the prospects of the kharif season.
The Manjara dam, which supplies water to Latur city and adjoining areas, has only about 13.5 per cent live stock, Deshmukh said.
While acknowledging that the outcome of cloud seeding could not be guaranteed, he said an attempt would demonstrate the government’s commitment to mitigating the difficulties faced by farmers. PTI COR KRK
