Ishan Kishan Creates History, Becomes First Wicketkeeper-Batter To Score 250 In Duleep Trophy

Ishan Kishan entered his name in the history books on Monday (September 7) by becoming the first wicketkeeper-batter to score 250 runs in a Duleep Trophy match.

The 28-year-old left-handed batter from Jharkhand, who is leading East Zone in the Duleep Trophy 2026 final against South Zone at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, scored 250 runs off 301 balls in East Zone’s first innings before deciding to retire himself out.

Before making his way back to the dugout in the second session of Day 2 at Chepauk, Ishan smashed 27 fours and seven sixes. He added 230 runs off 287 balls for the fifth wicket with Kumar Kushagra (101) and 140 runs off 180 balls for the sixth wicket with Anukul Roy.

In the sixth-wicket partnership with Anukul, Ishan scored

93 runs off 95 balls.

The previous record for the highest score by a wicketkeeper-batter in a Duleep Trophy match was held by Naman Ojha. Naman scored 217 runs off 348 balls for Central Zone in the 2014 Duleep Trophy match against North Zone in Mohali.
