Josh Inglis is back in the Lucknow Super Giants’ playing XI for their all-important IPL 2026 match against the Chennai Super Kings on Sunday (May 10). In the fixture taking place at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the right-handed wicketkeeper-batter from Australia helped LSG get off to a flying start. He opened the innings with countryman Mitchell Marsh and scored 85 runs from just 33 balls. During his stay at the crease, Inglis slammed 10 fours and 6 sixes for Rishabh Pant’s men before Jamie Overton picked up his wicket on the first ball of the 10th over of the LSG innings.

Inglis, who is playing his second match for LSG in the IPL on Sunday, needed just 17 balls at Chepauk to reach
his 50. The half-century in 17 balls against CSK helped Inglis become the second batter after Nicholas Pooran to score to reach the 50-run mark in less than 20 balls for Lucknow Super Giants in an IPL match.
Pooran, who is LSG’s highest run-getter in the IPL, has slammed four IPL fifties in less than 20 balls for the Lucknow-based franchise.

The record for scoring the fastest fifty in the IPL is in the name of Yashasvi Jaiswal. During the IPL 2023 match played between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Jaiswal needed just 13 balls to reach the 50-run mark.
Three batters – KL Rahul, Pat Cummins and Romario Shepherd – have scored an IPL fifty in 14 balls each for Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, respectively.
Flop show by Pooran and Pant
In the ongoing match against CSK, Pooran and Rishabh Pant failed to impress with their batting. While Pooran could only manage to score 1 run from 3 balls, Pant was bowled by Overton for 15 runs from 12 balls on the fourth ball of the 10th over. At the time of Pant’s dismissal, LSG were struggling at 115/4 in 9.4 overs.
