Ace Indian batter Virat Kohli has said that the way he has played throughout the three ODIs against South Africa is what satisfies him the most, adding that he is glad that he can still contribute to the team,
having won the Player of the Series award after scoring two hundreds and one fifty.
Speaking after receiving the top honour in the three-match series, Kohli radiated joy, his clarity and newfound freedom evident in every smile.
Free from the burden of Tests, where his dip in form had come under intense scrutiny after his retirement earlier this year, Kohli looked revitalised, almost recharged. He piled up 302 runs at a stunning average of 151, scoring two hundreds and an unbeaten 65 in the finale, crossing 300 runs in a three-match bilateral ODI series for the first time in his career.

“Well, honestly, just playing the way I have in this series has been the most satisfying thing for me. I don’t think I have played at this level for a good two, three years now and I feel really free in my mind,” Kohli said while speaking at the post-match presentation.
“The whole game is coming together nicely. Very exciting to build on and something that I have always tried to do as a player, maintain my own standards that I have set for myself and play at the level where I can make an impact for the team,” Kohli added.
With another record-breaking series behind him, the ace Indian batter has shown that he remains fit and ready to be part of India’s 2027 ODI World Cup plans. Doubts had been raised about whether he and Rohit Sharma could still feature at ages 38 and 40 by the time the tournament arrives.
