New Delhi, May 28 (PTI) Delhi Police has initiated action against a suspended Delhi Home Guard personnel for allegedly displaying an unauthorised ‘Deputy Commissioner of Police’ designation on his vehicle, an official said on Thursday.
According to police, a social media post showing a vehicle bearing the marking “Deputy Commissioner of Police, International Police Forum, USS’ came to notice, following which an inquiry was initiated.
During verification, police found that the vehicle owner was serving as a District Staff Officer (DSO) in the Delhi Home Guard and is currently under suspension.
“Further inquiry revealed that the man had been granted an honorary rank by the International Police Forum on May 16, valid till December 31, 2027,” a senior
police officer said.
However, the display of the designation on the vehicle was found to be in violation of provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
The officer further said that a challan under the Motor Vehicles Act is being issued against him.
Police said necessary legal action was taken promptly after the matter surfaced on social media. PTI BM BM KSI KSI
