The Malayalam television industry is facing a deeply emotional moment as colleagues, friends, and viewers come to terms with the loss of actor Siddharth Venugopal.
News of Siddharth’s demise was confirmed through actress Seema G Nair, who had been closely associated with his treatment journey over the past couple of years. He had been battling cancer for nearly two years. Sharing her grief in a heartfelt social media post, she wrote, “All hopes have faded… popular serial actor Siddharth Venugopal has journeyed to a painless world… for the past two years I fought for you, even when my mind and body were exhausted, I kept running to bring your life back… today God decided that you shouldn’t suffer anymore… I can’t bear it Siddharth, I am breaking
down.”
As the news spread, condolences began pouring in from actors and colleagues across the Malayalam entertainment space, many remembering him not just as a performer but as a warm and familiar face on television sets. Actor Kishore Sathya also paid tribute, reflecting on both Siddharth’s struggle and the support extended during his treatment. He said, “Another artist has been lost too soon. Siddharth Venugopal was a familiar face to audiences through television serials. He had been battling cancer for some time. Our beloved Seema G Nair had been taking care of his health. The film industry has always stood by many people, including the late Sharanya, for their medical needs. I pray for Siddharth’s soul to rest in peace, and bow my head in gratitude to Seema G Nair’s kind heart.”
Behind the screen presence that audiences recognised in shows such as Kasthooriman and Bhagyajathakam, Siddharth’s journey began far earlier. Hailing from Chalakudy in Thrissur, he developed a passion for acting during his college years, where he also engaged in professional theatre. His early career included work as a presenter before he eventually moved into television serials, a transition made possible with the support of producer Arun Ghosh.
Away from the spotlight, Siddharth’s personal life was marked by loss and resilience. He is survived by his mother and younger brother, while his father had passed away a few years earlier.
May his soul rest in peace!
