An MBA graduate from IIM Bodh Gaya has shared how a promised job opportunity in Delhi allegedly turned into a stressful and expensive experience. In a LinkedIn post, the young woman claimed she moved cities after receiving an offer letter and joining date, only to later discover that the company office did not even exist at the given address.
Her post has now sparked conversations online about fake hiring promises, poor communication from companies and the struggles fresh graduates face while starting their careers.
She Shifted To Delhi For The Job
The graduate said she trusted the company completely after receiving an official offer letter. According to her, she spent nearly Rs 75,000 to relocate to Delhi because she believed her job was confirmed.
“I am a 2026 MBA graduate from IIM Bodh Gaya. I got placed. I had an offer letter. A joining date. A promise,” she wrote.
The woman explained that she moved to Delhi alone and arranged everything expecting to begin work immediately.
“So I packed my bags and moved to Delhi – alone – spending ₹75,000 on relocation. Because I trusted that a confirmed job was waiting for me,” she added.
‘There Was No Office’
Things reportedly took a shocking turn on the day she reached the office location shared by the company. According to her post, she arrived at the address on May 4 but found no working office there.
“On 4th May, I stood outside the office address I was given. There was no office,” she wrote.
The graduate claimed she waited outside for nearly two hours while trying to contact company representatives.
“I waited two hours. I called. I messaged. No answer,” she added. Later, she was allegedly informed that the office space had gone “out of lease.”
Company Kept Asking Her To Wait
Even after the incident, the graduate said the company continued assuring her that her joining process was underway. According to her, she was repeatedly told that her employee ID was being generated and that work-from-home arrangements would begin soon.
However, days turned into weeks, and she claimed the company kept delaying the process. “They kept saying wait 2-3 days,” she mentioned in her post.
Eventually, she said she was informed that there would be “no joining before July.” By then, she claimed most of her savings had already been spent on relocation and living expenses in Delhi.
She Says The CEO Stopped Responding
The woman further alleged that she tried asking the company for reimbursement of her relocation costs because she had earlier been promised support. However, according to her, the CEO later stopped replying altogether.
She claimed the company head blocked her on calls and social media platforms. “If I had been told the truth even a week earlier, I would never have made these expenses,” she wrote.
Describing the experience as emotionally exhausting, she said the situation became even harder because she had moved to a new city alone as a fresher.
“A girl moves to a new city alone for a job. Spends money she cannot spare. Waits. Follows up. Gives every benefit of the doubt. And the person responsible just disappears,” she said.

Social Media Users Reacted Strongly
As the post gained attention online, many users shared similar experiences from their own careers.
A person wrote, “Same happened with me. The company in which I am being interviewed for the SDE role. After clearing all technical rounds. The HR didn’t give me full proper reason for months that why my final round is pending and the hr didn’t even bother to give closure till now.”
Another commented, “Heart breaking. But little surprised IIM grads are getting placed in a small insurance brokering company. Not a good sign.”
A user suggested, “It would be better for the girl to report this to IRDAI, considering the company is a licensed insurance broker.”
Another person wrote, “How terrible! I really hope she gets placed elsewhere fast and in a better place too. How come IIMs have lowered standards so much!”
Someone else added, “Same thing could have happened to me, bhgwan g ne bcha liya.”
The graduate later clarified that IIM Bodh Gaya’s placement committee helped her secure another opportunity through campus placement. She also advised fresh graduates to “document everything. Every promise, every date, every message.”
