The special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls is set to begin in Delhi as the chief electoral officer (CEO) has begun ground preparations for the “successful conduct” of the drive, an official statement announced on Wednesday.
The Delhi CEO said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has decided to conduct the SIR of electoral rolls in the entire country for the discharge of its constitutional mandate to protect the integrity of the voter list.
“For the convenience of the general public, the voter list of the Special Intensive Revision 2002 and mapping of the present Assembly Constituencies with those of 2002 have been uploaded on the website of CEO Delhi,” the announcement said.
These details can be checked at www.ceodelhi.gov.in/ElectoralRoll_2002.aspx
and www.ceodelhi.gov.in/SIR2025.aspx.
The Delhi CEO has also appointed booth-level officers (BLOs) in all assembly constituencies.
“All Officers concerned – District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers, Asstt. Electoral Registration Officers and Booth Level Officers have been imparted training,” they said.
The Delhi CEO requested the public to go through the voter list of 2002 to verify their names and their fathers’ and their mothers’ names in it.
“This would be helpful during House to House (H2H) visits by BLOs during SIR for collecting Enumeration Forms (to be distributed by BLOs in duplicate) from the public along with required documents,” the CEO added.
People whose names appear in the voter lists of 2002 and 2025 will have to submit only enumeration forms along with an extract of the voter list of 2002. For cases where the name of the present elector does not appear in the voter list of 2002, but the name of their parents appears, then they have to submit one document along with an enumeration form and an extract of the voter list of 2002 in respect of their parents.
The announcement from the Delhi CEO was made at a time when the other states are also preparing for the SIR drive, which is yet to be completed in Bihar. Bihar will issue the final voter list by the end of September.
On Monday, Kerala’s CEO announced that the state will conduct the SIR ahead of the 2026 assembly elections. CEOs of Karnataka, Kerala, Assam, Haryana, and West Bengal have also either uploaded the last SIR voter list or started ground staff training.
