Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday thanked his Armenian counterpart, Nikol Pashinyan, for facilitating the evacuation of Indian nationals stranded in Iran amid the ongoing crisis in West Asia during a telephone conversation between the two leaders.
During the telephonic conversation, the two leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the growing partnership between India and Armenia across a range of sectors.

Prime Minister Modi congratulated Pashinyan and his party on their victory in the recently held parliamentary elections in Armenia and wished him success in his future responsibilities. Pashinyan, in turn, congratulated Modi on becoming
the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history and wished him continued success in India’s development and welfare.
In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi said, “Earlier today, I was delighted to receive a phone call from Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Congratulated him and his party on their victory in the recently held Parliamentary elections in Armenia. Thanked him for facilitating the evacuation of Indian nationals stranded in Iran following the recent developments in West Asia.”

“We reaffirmed our shared commitment to further strengthen our warm and multifaceted partnership across key sectors, including trade, defence, technology and people-to-people ties. We look forward to working closely together to take India-Armenia relations to new heights,” he added.
The two leaders underscored the importance of continuously expanding the friendly ties between India and Armenia and expressed satisfaction over the positive momentum in bilateral cooperation.

They highlighted the need to deepen political dialogue and expand cooperation in areas including economy, high technologies, education, culture and other areas of mutual interest.
The prime ministers also discussed cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats and reviewed steps aimed at further strengthening the India-Armenia partnership across multiple sectors.
They stressed the importance of organising high-level mutual visits to inject fresh momentum into bilateral ties and launch new initiatives.
In April, India facilitated the return of 1,777 Indian nationals from Iran with the help of the authorities of Armenia and Azerbaijan amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had stated that “some 1200 Indian nationals have been evacuated, out of which 845 are students. 996 moved to Armenia and 204 to Azerbaijan, from where they are being helped by the MEA.”
