A strong impression during a job interview left a garment entrepreneur surprised when the candidate revealed he had been juggling two jobs for years. The conversation later sparked a debate online about hard work, burnout and work-life balance.
The entrepreneur shared that the candidate spoke fluent English and appeared highly capable. But what stood out most was his answer when asked about work timings, which revealed a routine he had followed since his school days.
The Candidate’s Answer Surprised Him
Garment entrepreneur Akshay Jain shared the experience in a post on X. He wrote that he had interviewed a candidate and was impressed with him.
“Took an interview of a candidate, very good. I asked for timings and he said 9 to 6. Before I could say
yes, he said he needs to do a second job from 7 to 11.30. This is a well read chap, spoke fluent English. I asked him, how mentally and physically he can do 2 jobs, and he replied that he has been doing this since the 10th std! Some lives are difficult. But m sure, with time, this person will be a great asset to any company he goes.”
According to the post, the entrepreneur was taken aback by the man’s discipline and ability to manage two jobs every day. He also expressed confidence that the candidate would become an asset wherever he worked.
Social Media Users Debate Work And Burnout
The post drew mixed reactions from social media users. While some praised the candidate’s dedication, others raised concerns about the impact such a lifestyle could have.
A user wrote, “Do not normalise abuse, I know of a person who did dual jobs in MNC’s from 10th standard and at age of 26 he was depressed, fat, no longer willing to work or live and murderer of his twin sister , case from moradabad UP of Holi, he worked in concentrix Gurgaon.”
Another said, “In India, you can’t legally do two jobs!” “Give him double package so he don’t have to work elsewhere,” a person commented.

“Real respect to him. doing two jobs since the 10th is a different kind of discipline. hope the role pays enough that one day he does not have to,” a comment said.
Someone said, “Your candidate may genuinely be doing a second job. But I have also noticed that some candidates mention fixed commitments after work hours upfront because it creates a clear boundary and prevents employers from assuming they will be available after working hours.”
A user noticed, “2Jobs in A day. What about the Sleeping Schedule?” Another said, “Finding the right talent some times come with surprises and life lessons as well.”
