Laura Wolvaardt’s unbeaten 42 guided Delhi Capitals to a seven-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru, ending RCB’s unbeaten streak in the 2026 Women’s Premier League at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara on Saturday.
Chasing a modest target of 110, DC reached the target with 4.2 overs to spare, which moved them to second place in the points table and improved their Net Run Rate. Shafali Verma provided early momentum before she and Lizelle Lee were dismissed in successive overs by pacer Sayali Satghare.
Captain Jemimah Rodrigues (24) and Laura stabilized the innings with a composed 52-run partnership, capitalizing on RCB’s fielding errors. Although Jemimah was dismissed before the chase concluded, Marizanne Kapp (19 not out) joined Laura to
help Delhi Capitals achieve the target and secure a comprehensive victory.
RCB, already assured of a playoff spot, were outplayed in all departments, finishing with 109 all out, their lowest total of the season. DC celebrated their second consecutive win, strengthening their playoff push.
Shafali gave Delhi a strong start in the first over by hitting three boundaries off Lauren Bell, with 16 runs coming from it. However, her stumping in the second over by Sayali checked DC’s momentum. Two overs later, Lizelle fell to Sayali, caught at deep backward square leg.
Turning Points
Laura and skipper Jemimah rebuilt the innings, scoring through controlled strokes and exploiting RCB’s fielding lapses. Rodrigues was dropped twice while finding her rhythm with consecutive boundaries off Arundhati Reddy, while Laura kept the scoreboard moving with singles and occasional fours.
Despite Jemimah being caught at extra-cover off Radha Yadav, Marizanne and Laura ensured there were no further setbacks. Marizanne hit clean boundaries off Lauren and Radha, while Laura launched a four and a six off Lauren and Georgia Voll. The chase concluded in the 16th over when Marizanne swept Shreyanka Patil for four, sealing a comprehensive win for DC and enhancing their net run rate.
