Star India batter Rohit Sharma, on Wednesday, was seen hugging a young kid wearing a Virat Kohli jersey at the end of Mumbai’s match against Sikkim in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, with the video going viral

on social media.

After the game, a young fan in Kohli’s No. 18 India Test jersey rushed up to Rohit and tried to touch his feet.

Rohit stopped the child, instead pulling him into a warm hug, a simple but powerful gesture that earned loud applause and summed up the spirit of the day. Watch the video here:

Meanwhile, Rohit marked his return to List A cricket in emphatic fashion, tearing into an inexperienced Sikkim attack with a blistering 155 off 94 deliveries as Mumbai coasted to an eight-wicket victory in their opening Group C Vijay Hazare Trophy game in Jaipur on Wednesday.

A near-capacity crowd of around 20,000 fans had a Christmas Eve to remember as they witnessed ‘Hitman’ carnage, 18 boundaries and nine sixes, with Mumbai racing down a 237-run target inside 31 overs.

Truth be told, there was little to write home about Sikkim’s bowling, with Palzor Tamang, Kranthi Kumar, Gurinder Singh and Ankur Malik looking overawed, even clueless, from the moment Rohit took guard.

It began with a trademark pull-shot over mid-wicket off Kranthi for a four, followed by a swivel pull shot off his hips.

The pacers lacked sting and twice, seamer Palzor’s 125 kmph balls were swept fine behind the square for sixes.

Rohit unfurled a series of late cuts against the spinners, using their pace. He was dropped twice, but remained undeterred, finding and bisecting the gaps at will and on his own terms.

Rohit also hit some delectable straight shots, leaving the Sikkim bowlers in complete awe.
