JYP Entertainment has issued a firm statement addressing the spread of malicious content and defamatory remarks targeting K-pop group Stray Kids. The agency confirmed that it has intensified legal action against those responsible and shared updates on the progress of multiple cases.
In an official notice released on December 27 KST, JYP reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards false information and online harassment aimed at the group. The agency stressed that protecting Stray Kids’ rights, reputation and well-being remains a top priority, both in South Korea and overseas.
Titled “Notice on the Status of Legal Action Regarding Infringement of Artist Rights,” the statement noted that legal steps have been ongoing for some time. JYP stated,
“As previously announced on multiple occasions, our company is pursuing firm legal measures to protect the rights and interests of our artist, Stray Kids, against actions that infringe upon their fundamental rights, including the dissemination of false information and malicious defamation.”
The agency also outlined its monitoring efforts across online platforms. “Furthermore, through a professional monitoring agency, we are continuously and systematically collecting evidence of malicious posts and comments such as the spread of false information, defamatory content, malicious slander, and ridicule targeting our artists across domestic and international online communities and social media platforms,” the statement said. Based on this evidence, JYP confirmed that both criminal complaints and civil lawsuits have been filed.
Sharing an update on the investigations, the agency revealed that authorities have already taken action. “Recently, investigative authorities have obtained warrants and are currently conducting investigations after identifying the accused parties,” JYP said. It added that cooperation is also underway beyond South Korea, stating, “In addition, we are working in cooperation with domestic and international courts to verify the identities of defendants who have posted malicious content on overseas platforms.”
JYP made it clear that it does not intend to show any leniency in these cases. “We will continue to cooperate closely with investigative authorities and judicial bodies and will pursue these matters to the fullest extent to ensure that the perpetrators receive strict legal punishment. No leniency or settlements will be considered in this process,” the agency stated.
The company also thanked Stray Kids’ fans, STAY, for their continued support. “We would like to express our sincere gratitude to STAY for the continued support and concern shown toward Stray Kids,” the statement read, while encouraging fans to submit evidence of illegal activity through the designated email address.
Concluding the notice, JYP reaffirmed its stance, saying, “JYPE remains firmly committed to placing our artists as our highest priority and will continue to make every effort to safeguard their rights and interests.”
