Mumbai Indians are enduring a difficult campaign in the ongoing IPL 2026, with the five-time champions currently placed ninth on the table, having managed only three wins from their 10 matches so far.
Star seamer Jasprit Bumrah’s form has been notably below his usual high standards with just 3 wickets this season and has conceded 329 runs in the 10 overs he has bowled.
Former Indian pacer Irfan Pathan expressed his concerns over the pacer’s form and added that it worried him to see the decorated bowler go through a rough patch.
“Last season, Jasprit Bumrah picked up 18 wickets in 12 matches at an economy of just 6.7. This season, though, he has really struggled. He has only 3 wickets in 10 games, and his economy is on the higher side as well. When
wickets don’t come, the economy rate naturally suffers. Right now, his bowling average is 105. Nobody expected a bowler of Bumrah’s class to have such poor numbers. Especially after his brilliant performance in the T20 World Cup, watching him struggle like this is very painful.”
Usually the team’s trump card, Bumrah has been regularly targeted and dominated by opposition batters throughout the tournament, which has significantly affected Mumbai’s overall performances.
MI began the season with a win over Kolkata Knight Riders, but then suffered consecutive defeats to Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings. They bounced back with a victory against Gujarat Titans, only to slump again with back-to-back losses to Chennai Super Kings and another defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad, before registering a win over Lucknow Super Giants.
