Apple fans across India turned out in full force as the highly anticipated iPhone 17 series went on sale today, September 19. Crowds in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Pune were seen eagerly waiting for a chance to get their hands on the latest iPhone models.
But the thrill of the day also turned chaotic as a scuffle broke out outside Mumbai’s Apple store. A video showed people slapping and hitting each other as security stepped in to control the situation.
Scuffle Breaks Out Outside Mumbai Apple Store
At the Apple Store in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai, hundreds of customers gathered from early morning, with many arriving before sunrise to be among the first to purchase the new iPhones. A video shared by news agency PTI showed a tightly packed
crowd outside the store, where a scuffle broke out. People were seen shoving, slapping, and struggling as security personnel tried to intervene and separate those involved.

At one point, a man in a red shirt was dragged out by security. He also attempted to hit one of the guards, but another man in a white shirt tried to calm things down. Meanwhile, another individual, wearing a black-and-white shirt, was pulled from the crowd by a guard and pushed away.
Excited Crowds Across Mumbai, Delhi And Bengaluru
While Mumbai saw a scuffle outside the store, it didn’t let the excitement fade, and crowds in the city were still eager to grab the new iPhones.

“I’ve come to buy the orange iPhone 17 PRO Max. I’ve been waiting since 8 pm…. This time, there are changes to the camera and battery, and the look is also different…,” Irfan, a customer, told ANI.

Other cities were filled with equally excited buyers. In Delhi’s Saket, long queues were seen outside the Apple Store.

“This time, the design has changed. I had the 15 Pro Max last time, and it seemed like a pretty good upgrade compared to that. The camera is much upgraded, and the processor has changed. The battery has also increased a bit, so that’s why I felt like buying it,” a customer told ANI.

Bengaluru also saw heavy footfall at the Phoenix Mall of Asia. Gauri Shankar, a long-time iPhone buyer, shared, “I have been buying iPhones for the last many years. This was a great experience. This is my first time in an Apple Store… I am very excited and now I am waiting for iPhone 18.”

iPhone 17 Series: Key Features and What’s New
The iPhone 17 comes with a refreshed design and several new features. It now has a larger 6.3-inch display with thinner borders. For the first time, Apple has added ProMotion technology that offers a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The screen also delivers up to 3000 nits of peak outdoor brightness and has three times better scratch resistance. The device is powered by the latest A19 chip, which is expected to be faster and more efficient than the previous A18 chip.
The iPhone 17 has a dual-camera system with a 48MP wide lens and a 12MP 2x telephoto lens. Apple claims it can capture photos at four times the resolution of the iPhone 16. The front camera has also been upgraded to 18MP. The base storage now starts at 256GB, which has led to a slight increase in price in India.
