Ashish Chanchlani defended Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent Season 2 following comments on social media about it being too unfiltered. After the first episode, featuring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, surfaced online, many pointed out that the comedian had toned down the show quite noticeably. However, Ashish Chanchlani, who, along with Ranveer Allahbadia and Apoorva Mukhija, was part of the episode that led to severe controversy, has come out in support of Samay.
Taking to his Instagram, Ashish Chanchlani shared how Samay and everyone who was on the panel that day had to fight a year-long battle and that the show’s return had once seemed impossible. The content creator wrote, “For people saying Latent is too filtered or has lost its charm and shit…
Just remember we had to fight a year-long legal battle where we promised to stay in line and make sure history doesn’t repeat itself.”
Continuing about how difficult it was for Samay to bring the show back, Ashish wrote, “It was almost an uncertainty that this show will come back. But somehow @maisamayhoon made sure he brings it back for y’all. He has fought countless battles behind the scenes. It was an uphill, almost impossible pipe dream for S2 to even exist. Kabhi kabhi kuch cheeze karni padti hai…”
He concluded the post by writing, “So please support karo usko aur enjoy karo.”
About the Latent Controversy
The show’s return comes after one of the most talked-about controversies in India’s digital entertainment space. The backlash began when a clip from India’s Got Latent went viral, showing guest Ranveer Allahbadia asking a contestant an inappropriate question related to parents and sex.
The remark triggered massive criticism online and led to multiple FIRs being filed. The controversy also drew political reactions, placing the show and its creators under intense scrutiny. In the aftermath, Samay Raina removed all episodes of India’s Got Latent from YouTube and said that he would cooperate with authorities. He later spoke about the personal impact of the controversy, including the stress and anxiety he experienced during the period.
