Lucknow, Jun 15 (PTI) Intense heat prevailed across Uttar Pradesh on Monday, with Banda recording the highest maximum at 43.4 degrees Celsius, according to the meteorological office.
The MeT has forecast rain and thunderstorms at isolated places over western Uttar Pradesh, while weather is likely to remain dry over eastern parts of the state.
Above-40 maximum temperatures were recorded at several places across the state on Monday, including Prayagraj at 42.4 degrees Celsius, Jhansi and Hamirpur at 41.6 degrees Celsius, Varanasi at 41.2 degrees Celsius, Kanpur at 40.4 degrees Celsius and Varanasi at 40.5 degrees Celsius.
The state capital Lucknow recorded a maximum of 39.7 degrees Celsius, 1.7 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature
was recorded at 28.9 degrees Celsius, 1.9 degrees above normal. The city received no rainfall during the day.
The weather department said maximum and minimum temperatures in Lucknow and neighbouring areas are likely to remain around 41 and 29 degrees Celsius, respectively, on Tuesday. No warning has been issued by the weather department for the next 24 hours. PTI KIS ARB ARB
