Lily Collins rang in a very special milestone with family, love and gratitude as her father, legendary musician Phil Collins, turned 75. Marking the day with rare and personal moments, the actor shared a glimpse into their quiet celebration, one that felt even more meaningful given everything her father has been through in recent years.
On Saturday, January 31, the Emily in Paris star posted a heartfelt birthday message for Phil Collins on Instagram, along with a small collection of photos capturing their bond. The images included a recent picture of father and daughter smiling side by side, a couple of polaroids, and a throwback photo from Lily’s childhood showing Phil carrying her in his arms.
“Yesterday Dad turned 75 and I feel so grateful
to have celebrated together,” Lily wrote in her caption. “For all you’ve accomplished, all the joy you’ve brought so many all over the world for ALL these years, all the lessons we’ve learned, all the memories we’ve shared, and all the new ones to come, thank you.”

She ended her message on an emotional note, adding, “I count myself so lucky to have hugged you, laughed with you, and reminisced with you on such a monumental day. Proud is an understatement. Love you to the moon and back again.”
The birthday celebration comes shortly after Phil Collins spoke openly about his ongoing health struggles. During a recent appearance on the BBC’s Eras podcast, the musician revealed that he now has round-the-clock medical support as he continues to manage multiple conditions.
“It’s an ongoing thing,” he said on the podcast. “I have a 24-hour live-in nurse to make sure I take my medication as I should do. I’ve had challenges with my knee. I had everything that could go wrong with me, did go wrong with me.”
Phil went on to describe a particularly difficult period when several health issues overlapped. “I got COVID in hospital. My kidneys started to back up. Everything seemed to converge at the same time,” he said. “It’s just been a difficult, interesting, frustrating last few years. But it’s all right now.”
The Genesis frontman officially stepped away from drumming and live performances in March 2022 after the band’s final show at London’s O2 Arena. At the time, he cited physical limitations caused by years of performing. Reflecting on that decision in the 2022 documentary Phil Collins: Drummer First, he admitted, “It’s still kind of sinking in a bit. I’ve spent all my life playing drums. To suddenly not be able to do that is a shock.”
In a separate interview with MOJO magazine last year, Phil also acknowledged that his health has impacted his ability to create music privately. “I keep thinking I should go downstairs to the studio and see what happens. But I’m not hungry for it anymore,” he said. “The thing is, I’ve been sick. I mean very sick.”
Phil Collins shares Lily with actor Jill Tavelman. He is also father to Joely and Simon with his first wife, Andrea Bertorelli, and to Nicholas and Matthew with his third wife, Orianne Cevey.
