Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, has become the most-talked-about series lately. The series has sparked conversations for its gritty storyline, clever satire and a climax that
left audiences gasping. But perhaps the most unexpected moment? The recreation of the 1997 classic Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela, featuring Mona Singh.
In The Ba***ds of Bollywood, Aryan uses clever VFX to morph Mona Singh’s face onto the original background dancer. As the iconic track played in the climax scene, long-time Bollywood fans were quick to notice that the song from the 1997 film Gupt originally starred Bhanu Khan.
Who is Bhanu Khan?
In Gupt, the actress plays a glamorous bartender who joins Bobby Deol on the dance floor in Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela. Clad in a white outfit, Bhanu left a mark with her electrifying screen presence.
She was a leading dancer who shared the stage with several big actors in popular songs in the 90s. Besides Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela, she has also performed in songs like Tere Ishq Mein Naachenge from Aamir Khan and Karishma Kapoor’s 1996 film Raja Hindustani, Gutur Gutur from Mithun Chakrobarty’s 1993 film Dalaal, Sanjay Dutt’s Ram Kasam Mera Bada Naam Ho Gaya and Sarhad’s Doodh Ban Jaaoongi Malai Ban Jaaoongi. Many millennials remember her face, but few knew her name — until now.
Another dancer in that unforgettable scene was Mahru Shaikh in a black dress. She later transitioned to television and played Apoorva Agnihotri’s character, Armaan Suri’s mother, in Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin.
