Karan Johar Says He Wanted A Relationship, Gets Lonely Being Single: 'God Didn't Make A Partner For Me'

Karan Johar has always spoken candidly about the matters of his heart, and his recent interaction with Sania Mirza on her podcast was no exception. Karan Johar opened up about how he feels lonely, especially

when he has no one to eat with or celebrate his achievements with. While he has made peace with his singlehood, he also believes in ‘never say never’.

Karan Johar said about not having a partner, “I’m okay now. There was a point in time when I really wanted love. I wanted companionship, I wanted a relationship. And I went through all kinds of dynamics, a broken heart, and one-sided love. I even made a film (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil) on it. That was cathartic; it helped me heal.”

The filmmaker revealed that people advised him to go abroad and find love. However, he said, “Go where? I live here, I have a mom and two kids. I have to live here. I’ve gone through those beats, and I do get lonely; it’s a reality. You get the loneliest in your highs, not your lows. Eating alone is another thing that makes you feel lonely.”

While Karan Johar has accepted the fact that he will remain single, if he does find love eventually, he will welcome it with ‘arms wide like Shah Rukh Khan’s’. When mentioned that despite making some of the best love stories of Bollywood, he didn’t have one in his personal life, the filmmaker said, “Rab ne vo jodi mere liye nahi banayi (God didn’t make a partner for me).”

Not much is known about Karan Johar’s dating life as the filmmaker keeps his love life a secret. However, he once admitted to being in love with Twinkle Khanna when they were much younger. Twinkle Khanna ended up marrying Akshay Kumar and shares a close friendship with Karan Johar.

During an episode of Koffee With Karan with Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, Karan broke down while watching the actors’ wedding video. He admitted that looking at his friends in love makes him want to have a partner of his own. Previously, Karan has admitted to having a one-sided love story and an unfulfilled love. However, he has never revealed the people’s names.
