A four-year-old boy died, while his parents and sister were found unconscious at their home in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior in the early hours of Monday.
According to the details, the incident happened due to a suspected gas leak from stored pesticide at their residence.
City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Atul Soni, speaking to news agency PTI, said that one Shivkumar Yadav lived with his wife and family in the Gola ka Mandir area of the city.
He had kept pesticides in the wheat storage facility in it, he said.
While Sharma, his wife, and daughter were found unconscious, his son died, he was quoted as saying.
“Satyendra Sharma lives with his family on the ground floor of Yadav’s house. Sharma, his wife, son and daughter were found unconscious this morning.
The boy died, while the others are in critical condition,” the CSP said.
Initial investigation suggests the gas leaked from the stored pesticide, police said.
The pesticide is being sent for forensic examination, and its seller will be questioned, they said.
Satyendra Sharma’s sister, Krishna Sharma, said relatives got to know about the incident in the morning.
“It was caused by gas that emanated from the pesticides kept to protect wheat,” she claimed.
In another incident, at least 19 people lost their lives after a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus, carrying 72 passengers, collided with a truck in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district on Monday.
The accident took place on the Hyderabad-Bijapur Highway when a tipper truck, reportedly coming from the wrong side, rammed into the RTC bus.
About 16 people among those who died were natives of Tandur, a small town in Telangana’s Vikarabad district, about 50 km from Hyderabad.
Among them was Yellaiah Goud, a driver who has lost three daughters, all college students in Hyderabad, Anusha, Sai Priya and Nandini.
