Dhanbad (Jharkhand), Jul 4 (PTI) Jharkhand Police on Saturday demolished an unauthorised property of fugitive gangster Prince Khan, a day after CPI(ML) Liberation MLA Arup Chatterjee alleged he received threat calls from the criminal demanding extortion money.
The operation was carried out in Wasseypur area of Dhanbad in Bank More police station area in the presence of a large police contingent, a senior officer said.
Prince Khan is accused of over 50 incidents of serious crimes, including murder, extortion and rioting. Several cases have been registered against him. He escaped from India around three years ago.
“We are demolishing the two-storey building following an order received from the court regarding two cases pending against him at the Dhanbad
and Bank More police stations. Around two weeks ago, we seized assets from the house and it is now being completely bulldozed,” Dhanbad (City) Superintendent of Police told PTI.
The SP told reporters that the house was constructed in violation of building rules.
Dhanbad DSP (Law and Order), Prakash Soy, said the illegal structure is being removed after cordoning off the area. Police personnel from six police stations have been deployed to maintain law and order in the area.
He said Khan initially shifted to Dubai but is now reported to have moved to Pakistan.
Police have tightened the noose around him and sought assistance from international agencies for his arrest, he said.
Chatterjee had said on Friday that he had received threatening WhatsApp messages after he did not answer normal calls. He said an audio message along with a video clip showing the firing of a pistol was also sent from the same number.
“Initially, there were multiple calls. When there was no response, a series of communications followed on WhatsApp — text messages, an audio message, a video clip, and further text messages — demanding extortion money and issuing threats and identifying himself as Prince Khan from Dubai,” the MLA alleged.
