The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee is expected to release the admit cards for the Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) 2026 soon. The GATE 2026 examination is scheduled for February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026, with two sessions held each day. The hall tickets were originally planned for release on January 2, but this was postponed. They are now expected to be available soon, although official confirmation from IIT is still awaited.
Candidates who have registered for the examination can download the hall tickets from the official website – gate2026.iitg.ac.in, once released. GATE 2026 will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode. The exam will last three hours. The first shift will run from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and the second
shift from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
GATE Admit Card 2026: Steps To Download
Step 1: Visit the official GATE website
Step 2: On the homepage, click on the ‘GATE 2026 Admit Card’ link
Step 3: Enter your login credentials like registration number and password on the new page
Step 4: Click the submit button and your GATE 2026 hall ticket will appear on the screen
Step 5: Download the GATE 2026 admit card and take a printout for exam day
Each exam paper will be worth 100 marks, with 15 marks allocated to the General Aptitude section and 85 marks to the core papers. The marking scheme includes negative marks for wrong answers in the Multiple-Choice Question (MCQ) section. However, there will be no negative marks for incorrect answers in Multiple-Select or Numerical Answer Type questions.
GATE is a national-level exam used to evaluate applicants for admission to master’s and doctoral programmes in engineering, technology, science, architecture, and humanities, as well as for employment with certain public sector organisations. The exam will be administered on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India by IISc Bengaluru and seven IITs, including IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee.
