TN CM uses appraisal analogy, says delimitation is 'unfair performance review'

Chennai, Apr 17 (PTI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Friday used the appraisal analogy to emphasise that the proposed delimitation exercise was an “unfair performance review”.

He likened the Centre’s delimitation exercise to enhance the number of Lok Sabha seats across the country to an “unfair performance review” by a company which rewarded “those who don’t do any work and “punished” the honest employees who worked sincerely.

“I have explained the implications of delimitation a year ago. Telangana Chief Minister Reventh Reddy had on ‘X’ said that I was the first in India to caution the danger of delimitation and organise a conclave of leaders of south India. Now, I will narrate a short story (kutty kathai),” the Chief Minister said in a video

posted on the social media platform ‘X’.

In the video from his poll campaign in Perambalur on April 16, Stalin used the appraisal analogy to criticise the Centre’s proposed delimitation.

“The company which reaps benefits due to the hard labour of sincere person provides him an increment of Rs 2,000 over his monthly salary of Rs 10,000 while another employee who draws Rs 20,000 salary, but doesn’t do what he is asked, is rewarded with a hefty hike raising his salary to Rs 50,000 during the appraisal,” he said.

“Is the review fair or unjust? Never mind if promotion is not given but what will one do if what one earns is taken away? This is exactly what the delimitation is about. We are fighting against this injustice,” Stalin, who is the president of DMK, said.

In another video, also posted on ‘X’, Stalin sang a few lines from the M G Ramachandran starrer Tamil film “Mannadhi Mannan” – “Acham enbathu madamaiyada…” inspiring everybody to discharge the duty of defending the motherland, and remarked “it is the duty of everyone to protect Tamil Nadu.” PTI JSP JSP ROH
