MS Dhoni Admirer Kartik Sharma’s Emotional Reaction To CSK Move: 'As Soon As Bidding...'

Star Rajasthan wicketkeeper-batter Kartik Sharma has said that he is very excited to have bagged a chance to play alongside former India captain MS Dhoni, adding that he had tears in his eyes when he bagged a whopping Rs 14.2 crore from the Chennai Super Kings at the IPL 2025 mini-auction.

Kartik attracted significant attention during the auction despite being uncapped. Lucknow Super Giants and the Mumbai Indians kicked off the bidding, which soon escalated as the Kolkata Knight Riders joined the fray for the promising wicketkeeper.

Kolkata seemed poised to bag Kartik, but Chennai entered the bidding and pushed the price past Rs 10 crore. Sunrisers Hyderabad tried to swoop in as well, but the five-time champions spent Rs 14.2 crore, making him

the joint-costliest uncapped player in IPL history.

“For the first time, I will be playing with Mahi bhai and I am very excited that I will get the chance to play with him and learn a lot from him. And today, for the first time, I was picked in the auction,” Kartik said while speaking to the host broadcasters.

An emotional Kartik revealed he could not hold back tears after seeing the final price. The 19-year-old admitted he had been sceptical about his chances of being picked and said that he was still crying even after the bidding ended.

“I was so happy that I ended up crying. When my bidding started, I was scared, thinking maybe I won’t get picked today. But as soon as the bidding began, it just kept going on and on,” Kartik said.

“At that moment, I could not hold back my tears. Even after the bidding ended, I kept crying. Everyone was dancing, I was crying, I was that happy. No words to describe how I am feeling,” Kartik added.

The youngster was Rajasthan’s leading run-scorer in the last Vijay Hazare Trophy, amassing 445 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 118 while batting at No. 4.
