‘Not Every Success Story Looks The Same’: IT Manager Quits Corporate Job After 9 Years, Now Drives Auto And Earns Rs 60,000 A Month

A woman who left her IT career after nearly a decade and started driving an auto-rickshaw is drawing attention online for her unusual career shift. According to a founder who met her during a ride, the woman now earns around Rs 60,000 a month and says she is happier than she was in her corporate job.

The story was shared on Instagram by entrepreneur Nezrin Midhlaj, who said that a simple conversation during a ride in an auto turned into a lesson about choosing peace over professional titles.

A Conversation That Stood Out

Sharing the experience on Instagram, Midhlaj wrote, “Sometimes, the most powerful stories come from the most unexpected conversations.” She recalled meeting a woman auto driver and being curious about her journey in a field that

is largely dominated by men.

According to Midhlaj, the driver appeared confident, well-dressed and comfortable with the life she had built for herself. “Today, I met a woman auto driver. Confident, well-dressed, and completely at peace with her life. When I asked her how it feels to be in a male-dominated field, her answer stayed with me,” she wrote.

During their conversation, the driver revealed that she had previously worked as an IT manager for nine years before deciding to leave the industry.

Why She Left Her Job

Midhlaj said the woman spoke openly about the pressure that came with her corporate role. “She said she used to be an IT manager for 9 years. She left it all behind- the pressure, the stress, the constant tension,” the founder wrote.

Instead of continuing in the corporate world, the woman chose a completely different path and started driving her own auto-rickshaw.

According to Midhlaj, the driver now earns about Rs 60,000 every month. More importantly, she feels satisfied with her life. “Now, she drives her own auto. She earns around Rs 60,000 a month. And most importantly, she said she’s happy,” she added.

The encounter made Midhlaj reflect on how many people spend years chasing promotions, designations and status without asking themselves what truly makes them happy.

“It made me think- how often do we chase titles and forget to ask ourselves what actually makes us feel alive? Not every success story looks the same. And sometimes, choosing peace over prestige is the bravest decision you can make. Grateful for these conversations that keep grounding me.”
